These are the most frequently asked questions about HVAC, Sizing, and More. Please feel free to contact us if you don’t see your question answered below.

    • General Questions
    • Mechanical Questions

How much will a new system save me on my energy bills?

Blue Sky Heating and Air LLC heating and cooling systems account for approximately 44 percent of your energy bills. Compared to a system that is 10 years old or older, a newer Energy Star system can provide up to 60% more efficiency when your equipment is running.

How do I determine which thermostat to use?

There are numerous thermostats available on the market today. Our HVAC technicians will advise you to use one that can be programmed to save energy. Also, consider getting WI-FI enabled and can be controlled with your smart device for added convenience.

What should I look for when choosing the best HVAC contractor?

Look for a well-known and established heating and cooling contractor in Austin, Texas. Examine the training, certifications, licensing, and insurance. Years of experience in the industry are a factor, and you can also ask friends and family for recommendations or look for reviews and feedback on the internet.

Is my entire system required to be replaced, or can I have some of it?

Before performing an air conditioning replacement in Austin or any other installation, Blue Sky Heating and Air LLC will inspect your existing unit to see if any of it can be saved and reused. If you have usable parts, you can save a little money on your final bill. Make sure to schedule with us first.

Is there anything I can do to improve the quality of my air?

Because the air inside your home is constantly circulating, it can be up to 100 times worse than the air you breathe outside. If you or a loved one has allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues, good air quality isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. Blue Sky Heating and Air LLC have various options when it comes to the purification and filtration of your residential air. You can significantly improve your indoor air quality using germicidal UV lights, filters, dehumidifiers, and ventilation systems.

What is the difference between a free estimate and diagnostic?

Depending on the job, some customers receive a diagnostic fee, and some start at a free estimate. Usually, we give estimates for relatively large jobs. For example, some jobs requiring an estimate are replacing the AC, converting from a heat pump to a complete HVAC system, or replacing a furnace. The estimates are free, and the technician will detail the needed parts, including the labor and work. If it’s something relatively easy and can be fixed while the technician is there, or it may not be a large project, it would start at the diagnostic fee of $39.

How much is your diagnostic fee and what does it cover?

We currently charge $39 for our residential service diagnostic fee call. You are charged a fee for figuring out the “why” behind a problem. Our technician will help you understand the cause of your unit malfunction and diagnose a solution. Furthermore, this $39 fee will be waived if you proceed with the repair.

How long are your time frames? Why are they so long and can you provide a more accurate time?

Generally, the most common HVAC problem can be fixed within 2-3 hours, assuming no particular AC parts are needed. The exact answer, of course, depends on the problem. Some repairs can be made in minutes, while others may require days or weeks. But, of course, this is just an estimate – unforeseen circumstances can lengthen the repair time.
